Course summary

If you have the potential to study at degree level but you don’t meet the entry requirements, a foundation year can bridge the gap – laying the groundwork for entry into Year 1.

The modules you’ll study are designed to build your confidence and bring you up to speed for the rest of your chosen degree. As well as the Academic Practice modules, which help develop your study skills for learning at degree-level, you'll also study a selection of humanities modules. Once you have successfully passed your foundation year you will progress directly onto Year 1 of your linked honours degree.

UCAS Tariff - 72 - 80 points

Equivalent qualifications and combinations will be considered, including Extended Project (EPQ) at grade C or above. AS levels (or qualifications equivalent to AS level) are not accepted. Please contact the University directly if you are unsure whether you meet the minimum entry requirements for the course.

Access to HE Diploma

Pass Access to HE Diploma with a minimum of 72 UCAS Tariff points

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DM

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 24 points

IB Diploma with minimum 24 points overall or 72-80 UCAS Tariff points from Higher Level. If you plan to meet the Level 2 course requirements through your IB Diploma you will need to achieve Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 5 in English and Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 4 in Mathematics

GCSE grade D/3 in English Language or Level 2 Functional Skills English pass

GCSE grade D/3 in Mathematics or Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics pass
