Examine the fundamentals of language, and study issues in teaching methodology, on this MA Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching master's degree.
You'll investigate current theories in training and learning languages, and we'll show you how to apply these to your teaching practices. This degree will open paths to teaching in the UK or starting a career overseas.
If you're a language professional in a school or other education setting, this course will help you develop a comparative perspective on language education policy and practice, learn the skills needed to challenge professional practice and undertake research and innovation in a range of applied language fields.
Compulsory modules include: Dissertation; Second Language Training; Introduction to Research in Applied Linguistics. Optional modules include: Assessment of Language Proficiency; Autonomy and Individualisation in Language Learning; English as a World Language; Language and Intercultural Communication; English as medium of instruction in global education.

We'll assess your knowledge through: individual and group projects and presentations, through workshop activities, written assignments, and the dissertation.
English language: Band D, IELTS 6.5 overall score with at least 6.5 in Reading and Writing and at least 6.0 in Speaking and Listening.
Upper 2nd Class Honours degree in English, linguistics, modern languages or other relevant discipline.
