Course summary

Specifically designed for non-computing graduates wanting to upskill or change career trajectory, this 12-month course equips you with the critical knowledge, technical ability and practical skills needed to apply IT expertly to your work. Our Master’s builds on everyday experiences with technology to help you understand, evaluate and assess the core theories and emerging developments underpinning the field, then apply your learning to real-world problems.

Programming for applications – Use real-world applications to demonstrate how to analyse a problem and develop a program to solve it.
Data modelling, management and governance – Manage data through its lifecycle, focusing on development tools, data capture, modelling, storing and retrieval.
Computer networks and security – An introduction to industry-standard networking models, cybersecurity frameworks and application protocols prevalent in technologies globally.
Research methodologies and project management – Learn to apply project management theory and research methods in practice, using appropriate legal and ethical frameworks.
MSc project in Applied Computing and Information Technology - Work creatively to generate an idea and develop it further, applying your technical, analytical, practical and managerial skills.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a UK honours degree or equivalent in computer science, networking, security, or engineering.

Applicants without a degree may be granted entry on the basis of their previous industrial work experience. Such work experience should be at least three years and applicants will be interviewed to verify suitability for the course.
