At Birmingham, you’ll benefit from our interdisciplinary approach with supervisors from the Department of Film and Creative Writing and the possibility of co-supervisors from across the College of Arts and Law.

You'll be part of the Film and Creative Writing Department, home to B-Film: The Birmingham Centre for Film and Television Studies research centre.

Through B-Film, we're leading conversations in Film and TV studies, both locally and globally. You'll learn from academic experts in Film and Television Studies, with a wide variety of departmental research activities throughout the year.

Enhance your critical understanding of Film and TV studies with opportunities to attend research workshops, seminars and screenings and run your own research events in collaboration with other research students.

Wide range of academic expertise across Film and Television Studies, including specialisms such as: world cinema, film and television genres and aesthetics, philosophy, feminism and children’s media.
Our internationally recognised academics publish research in specialist publications and are active in their Film or Television Studies research field.
