A full-time award designed and delivered at the University Centre of Farnborough. It is a University of Surrey validated award aimed at Teaching Assistants/ Learning Support practitioners who have completed NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. The award is nationally recognised by universities and provides an opportunity for professional development and progression onto an honours degree. A successful candidate will achieve 120 credits at level 4 (Year 1) and 120 credits at level 5 (Year 2) and have the opportunity to enter a Bachelors of Arts Honours degree at level 6 (Year 3) to achieve the complete credits (320 in total).
There are 8 modules covered in Year 1 (Level 4) and a further 8 modules in Year Two (Level 5), all valued at 15 credit points:

A wide range of teaching and learning methods are adopted throughout the programme to accommodate learning styles and to address the learning outcomes.
The following entry points are available for this course:
Hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent level 3 qualification with a minimum of one year experience (at least ten hours per week for an academic year) in a learning support role.
Have the competency in English as required by the University of Surrey and can produce evidence of DBS clearance.
Employed and/or in a voluntary placement as a learning support practitioner in primary, secondary, further education or a specialist school for a minimum of 15 hours per week concurrent with course attendance.
Head Teacher/ Principal/ Employer letter to clarify employment/placement hours (15 per week minimum), access to institutional policies, support from a suitable work-based Mentor and appropriate Maths, English and ICT skills to support learning.
