The course is designed to balance foundational programming principles with practical, hands-on projects, enabling you to write efficient, maintainable code across various languages and paradigms. This course regularly promotes and hosts networking events and guest speakers from professionals within the industry to provide you with real life expertise.
Computer Science is an ever-important subject and is useful in the modern world and digital economy. You are encouraged to adopt an analytical approach to Computer Science, transitioning from user to developer and analyst, through critically examining key computing skills and independently applying new approaches to computing solutions and concepts.
The course offers and array of modules that cover a variety of subjects such as web development, fundamentals of programming, and introductions to networks.
You’ll gain insight into the breakthroughs in artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as advancements in data science and cloud computing. You’ll also explore emerging trends and cutting-edge developments shaping the future of computing.
This course is structured in trimesters and can be delivered as blended or remote learning if needed, ensuring flexibility for diverse learning preferences and circumstances.
Final Project (40 credits)
This module allows you to carry out an in-depth investigation into a computing related topic of your choice and develop autonomous and self-directed study skills. This project will allow you to demonstrate to potential employers that you have current and up-to-date subject knowledge plus transferable skills and attributes that they are looking for.
Team Project (40 credits)
Students work collaboratively on a large-scale project, applying their knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Cyber Ops and Computer Forensics (20 credits)
This module equips you with the essential knowledge and skills to understand and manage cybersecurity operations in real-world environments. You will explore the tools, strategies, and tactics used in the field of cyber defence, such as threat detection, incident response, ethical hacking, vulnerability management, and the role of security operations centres (SOCs).
Penetration Testing (20 credits)
This module will allow you to demonstrate your ability to perform penetration testing on computer systems, networks, and applications by applying ethical hacking techniques to identify and exploit vulnerabilities. It will also explore the role of social engineering in security testing, learning how human factors can be targeted to bypass security measures.
