This programme includes a Year Abroad. The Year Abroad will allow you to study at one of our partner universities around the world, following a mixture of culture and discipline-related modules.

Physics and Mathematics degrees are highly prized and our graduates have excellent career opportunities in industrial research and development, computing, business, finance and teaching.
We offer one three-year BSc degree and two four-year degrees, MMath or MPhys, combining these two intimately related disciplines. These programmes provide a strong mathematical training, and mathematical techniques help you to deal with new ideas that often seem counterintuitive, such as string theory, black holes, superconductors and chaos theory.

This programme is accredited by the Institute of Physics (IOP) for the purpose of fully meeting the educational requirement for Chartered Physicist.

Mathematics A level at grade A and Physics A level at grade B.

Applicants must have studied Mathematics at Level 3 within 2 years of the start date of their course.

For applicants studying A levels with English exam boards: Where a science has been taken at A level (Chemistry, Biology, Geology or Physics), a pass in the Science practical of each subject will be required.

Some Level 3 qualifications are only acceptable alongside 2 or 3 A levels, please contact us for details.

T Level

Science T Level considered with A level Mathematics. Typical offer would be Distinction overall, with a grade B in the Core Component and a Distinction in the Specialism Component.

Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and 3 A levels and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be ABB or ABC plus A in the EPQ, including grade A in Mathematics and grade B in Physics.

32 points overall and no score less than 4 and including 6 in HL Mathematics and 5 in HL Physics, or pass the IB Diploma with 6,5,5 in three Higher Level subjects (including 6 in HL Mathematics and 5 in HL Physics).

If this is your first degree and you are a Home student applying for entry in 2027, you do not have to pay your fees upfront. Instead, you can take out a tuition fee loan which is paid straight to the University. This is available to most students, no matter what their household income.

Tuition fees are subject to increase each year, subject to the government’s regulated fee limits. For UK students applying for 2027 entry the Tuition Fee is £10,050.
