Course summary
If you have an interest in developing skills and understanding in working with and supporting children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, and their families, this could be the course for you. Students will be offered the ability to gain insight into many of the disciplines associated with supporting children and young people with additional needs and disabilities including diagnosis and developing, historical, cultural, social, and political attitudes and values, exploring behaviour, care and education, transitions and how to promote independence, assistive technology, health, inclusion, rights, creative practice, and innovation in the field.
We are committed to employability and career management and this course will develop knowledge and understanding required for a range of careers in this field with specific modules linked to developing strong professional practice and leadership skills.
To support this, students will be encouraged to develop their individual interests through subject specific assessments and research. In addition, the course provides a strong base for students to continue into further study at master’s level.

The honours degrees and foundation degrees offered at City College Norwich are awarded by the University of East Anglia (UEA) with whom we enjoy Associate College Status. This partnership means that you will graduate with a UEA degree and be able to access facilities at the UEA while you are studying with us.

Assessment method
This 3 year programme is delivered through a mixture of workshops, lectures, seminars, practical sessions, tutorials and self-directed study. You will be assessed through essays, presentations, reports, posters, exhibitions, exams, seminars, portfolios, professional discussions, and a dissertation.
This course is not accepting applications for deferred entry.

Typical qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff 80
Our typical offer is 80 UCAS tariff points from A Levels or equivalent plus GCSE English at grade 4 or above (C or above).
UCAS points from A Levels, Scottish Highers or Advanced levels, BTEC, City and Guilds diplomas, Open University credits in lieu of A levels, Access to HE Diplomas, and T Levels are accepted.
We will also accept applications from students who have passed, or are predicted to gain a pass grade in the following specific course programmes:-
T Level: Education and Early Years (Assisting Teaching) L3
T Level: Education and Early Years (Early Years Educator) L3
BTEC Health & Social Care Extended Diploma Level 3
Access to Higher Education: Childhood Studies
or who have successfully completed one of the following apprenticeships:
Early Educator Apprenticeship Standard L3
Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Level 3
Applicants over 21 years of age, who do not have relevant UCAS points, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis but should demonstrate evidence of an appropriate qualification, experience in the field or a strong interest.
AP(C/E)L & RPEL may be considered for non-standard entry.
Applications from students whose first language is not English are welcome. For International students we require evidence of proficiency in - English (including writing, speaking, listening and reading); the required minimum is IELTS (SELT) 6.0 overall (minimum 5.5 in all components).
