Course summary

You study a broad curriculum in your first two years, developing knowledge in different aspects of computing science, and gaining skills in problem solving, program design and implementation. In your third year, you move onto specialist topics in game engineering, with modules that focus on the design, development and implementation of software that drives computer games.

A level - AAB

Excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*DD

Minimum grade B or 6 in at least five GCSEs required, including Mathematics.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 45 credits M: 0 credits

A level 3 unit in mathematical studies essential. At least 45 level 3 credits at distinction in a science subject..

Scottish Higher - AAABB

Mathematics required at National 5, minimum grade B (or grade 2 Standard Grade or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted. Where a candidate bypasses the assessment for National 5 qualifications, a minimum of grade C in the Higher in Mathematics is required. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 34 points

Standard Level Mathematics or Mathematical Studies required at grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

Extended Project

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that it is designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1, H2, H2, H3

Including Ordinary Level Mathematics required at grade O2 if not offered at Higher Level.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, D3, M2

D3,D3,M2 in Principal Subjects. GCSE Mathematics grade B or 6 required.
