Course summary

This four-year course with an integrated foundation year leads to the same qualification as our three-year honours degree. It has been specifically designed for those wanting to undertake degree-level study but who may not meet the entry requirements or have traditional qualifications.

The Foundation Year (Year 0) offers you the chance to expand and strengthen your confidence, skills and knowledge – ensuring that you are well-prepared and qualified to progress into Year 1 of the BSc (Hons) Tourism Management programme.

On our undergraduate degree in Tourism Management, you’ll gain in-depth understanding of the tourism system and how to optimise the value chain. We’ll place particular emphasis on the development of sustainable tourism from an economic, socio-cultural, and environmental standpoint.

During the foundation year, you’ll develop essential academic and IT skills, such as writing, communication, presentation and how to use digital resources to support your studies and research assignments. Equally important, you will learn how to collaborate and work with others. You will get a taste of studying within a multidisciplinary School, mingling with Foundation students from a range of other subjects, including accounting, economics and management.

‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch.
