Primary Teaching (QTS)

The BA (Hons) Primary Teaching (QTS) at the University of Chichester is designed to train you to become a fully qualified primary school teacher, focusing on children aged 5-11 (Key Stages 1 and 2).

The course modules cover key components of teacher education such as professional studies, curriculum studies and classroom experience. These modules provide student teachers with the essential knowledge required to be a primary school teacher.

You will learn what to teach (the curriculum), how to teach (pedagogy) and why you are teaching (values and aims of education) through engagement with research, theory and practice.

Students are also encouraged to pursue a subject study of their choice, allowing them to develop deeper expertise in a specific area.

The course takes student teachers from the foundations of good practice in the first year through to the final year of the programme where they can enrich their understanding through a range of optional modules. This personalisation of the programme enables student teachers to thrive as future professionals.

Assessments include essays, presentations, 1:1 discussions, coursework, and the creation of creative stimuli.
