Course summary

The general aim of this award is to develop the thinking, practical and personal skills of the student to the best of his or her ability. This is a two-year award suitable for students wishing to study on a full-time basis seeking a career in the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering profession at senior technician level.

UCAS Tariff

In addition to five GCSE subjects at grade C or above, preferably to include Mathematics, English and a Science, the following minimum criteria will apply: GCE A/AS level, AS VCE single or double award/AVCE single or double award: Minimum of two A Levels or equivalent. Acceptable A level or subjects are Mathematics or a numerate Science such as Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Geography, Design Technology or Engineering. Or National Certificate/Diploma/Extended Diploma, typically in Mechanical Engineering. Grades PP/PPP respectively, to include a Mathematics module and an additional analytical module such as Mechanics or Environmental Science.
