You'll develop a personal coaching philosophy grounded in reflection upon both practice and ‘self’, tailored to the needs of the equestrian athlete. You'll be optimally placed to positively influence the equine industry as equestrian sports coaches, with a solid underpinning in coaching theory which they can practically apply to a range of coaching scenarios.
By graduation, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and industry insight to lead the way in modern equestrian coaching, shaping the future of horse-rider partnerships from grassroots to elite.
You can use all of this to evidence your coaching expertise, experience and coaching philosophy to employers when you graduate.
Our modules are developed regularly to reflect student and industry demands, ensuring you’re well prepared to enter skilled employment on graduation. The majority of courses are comprised of both compulsory and optional modules, the latter of which you'll be able to choose from to suit your interests and career goals. Most courses also include work placement learning, to help you gain essential experience for your future. Modules include: Equitation Science for Coaches, Equestrian Practice, Equestrian Coaching and Teaching Portfolio (Theory), Equine Structure and Function, Equine Industry, Coaching and Teaching Portfolio (Pedagogy), Equine Performance, Fitness and Training, Equestrian Research Methods, One Welfare in the Equine Industry, Coaching and Teaching Portfolio (Reflection), Undergraduate Dissertation, Challenging Equestrian Culture, Optimising Rider Performance for Equine Welfare and Applied Business Management.
