Course summary

Designed for those with a desire to understand and enhance physical education and sporting experiences for young people – this course will provide the ideal stepping stone for recent graduates wishing to diversify their knowledge, as well as current practitioners working in schools or within the field of youth sport.

As part of your course you’ll:
β€’ Build a critical understanding of contemporary practice
β€’ Apply different models and theories to develop expertise in creating inclusive PE and youth sport settings
β€’ Promote lifelong engagement in physical activity to a range of individuals and communities

The Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University has delivered high-quality sport and physical education courses for more than 80 years. As a student, you’ll be taught by a small team of academics internationally renowned in their field.

With small group delivery, a personal tutorial system, and strong study skill support, this course will provide a cohesive and effective learning environment. During your studies, a range of option modules will enable you to cater the course to your personal and professional development goals.

We have good links with schools and youth sport organisations to help you apply your learning. You’ll also have access to a range of sports and recreation clubs and societies and coaching courses through our Sport and Active Lifestyles Team.

This course can be studied as an MA, PG Dip or PG Cert. It offers progression onto further study, for example, PGCE or School Direct places or ultimately onto PhD research.
