Our Mathematics and Economics BSc degree offers a valuable blend of economic theory and mathematical skills.

As well as pure and applied mathematics, you’ll learn probability and statistical techniques. You'll learn to analyse economic theories and tackle real-world economic challenges with confidence.

In economics, you’ll explore topics related to Britain, Europe, and the rest of the world, including:
economic analysis and applications
global economics
micro- and macro-economics

In mathematics, you’ll develop a thorough grounding in topics and techniques such as:
differential equations
probability
statistics

You’ll get expert tuition from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics and the Newcastle University Business School. Our Business School is among the top 1% of international business schools and holds triple-crown accreditation.

AAB including grade A in Mathematics OR ABB including grade A in Mathematics AND one A level from: Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Geography, History, Physics and Modern/Classical Languages or grade 2 in any STEP paper.

We do not accept General Studies and Critical Thinking as one of the three A level grades.

Equivalent grades will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of grade B or 6 in English at GCSE.

45 level 3 credits at Distinction including 15 level 3 credits in mathematical studies. A Newcastle University Mathematics and Statistics pre-entry course may also be required.

AAABB (combination of Highers and Advanced Highers) with AB at Advanced Higher level and including Mathematics at Advanced Higher grade A.

Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.
