In this specialist route through our BSc (Honours) Computing and IT (Q62), you’ll gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of communications technologies. You’ll achieve a sound knowledge of the principles of hardware and systems-based technologies, and the ability to apply your knowledge and skills in various industries and organisations. As a Cisco Academy, The Open University offers the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) curriculum, which provides the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed to configure a LAN/WAN using Cisco equipment.

Modules

Course Modules

This computing and IT degree has three stages, each comprising 120 credits.

Stage 1: You’ll study two 30-credit fundamental computing and IT modules, a 30-credit module that introduces some key areas of technology, plus choose one 30-credit mathematics module to suit your level of mathematical knowledge.

Stage 2: You’ll study four 30-credit modules covering networking, web and communication technologies, as well as managing IT projects.

Stage 3: You’ll study two further 30-credit modules covering networking and communications technology, choose a 30-credit option module and complete your degree with a 30-credit project module.
