Course summary

Are you interested in the science behind flying? Maybe you are curious about how aircraft are designed and manufactured?. Leading researchers in aeronautics and space teach our MEng Aerospace Engineering including an Industrial Year to provide you with the skills and advanced knowledge needed to work in this exciting sector. All our course content is aerospace focused – from the very beginning of your programme.

Our MEng course is the preferred route to achieving Chartered Engineer status. It will give you a deeper understanding of the role of aerospace engineering compared to our BEng course.

Our department has links with companies including:

  • Airbus

  • Boeing

  • Rolls-Royce Aerospace

Industry links will provide you with placement opportunities for real world learning. Our teaching facilities and regular guest lecturers will give you a fantastic insight into the growing aerospace industry.

Learning on this course includes hands-on integrating projects throughout your studies. Your learning will cover topics in:

  • flight physics

  • airframe

  • systems

Your final two years will allow you to tailor your learning through a variety of specialist modules, such as technical and management topics. You will also complete an in-depth final group design project to prepare you to enter the industry.

Our four-year MEng course is the preferred route to achieving Chartered Engineer status. It will give you a deeper understanding of the role of aerospace engineering compared to our BEng course.

Contextual admissions

Universities and colleges consider more than grades when assessing applications and may make offers based on a range of criteria. Learn more about contextual offers.

We consider applicants solely on the basis of their merits, abilities and potential – we use exam grades to prioritise applicants but look at a range of factors and aim to give everyone an equal opportunity to show their achievements.

We understand that background and personal circumstances can have an impact on academic performance at school or college. Applicants who are eligible under our contextual admissions policies may be considered for a reduced contextual offer.
