Overview

"Is it possible for policymakers to achieve environmentally sustainable economic growth? How can firms be encouraged to engage in research and development (R&D) and innovation to solve the UK’s 'productivity puzzle'?" What’s the best way to design an auction to maximise revenue? These are just a few of the complex questions this exciting MSc in Economics will equip you to tackle.

As part of our Academic and Professional Programme, this rewarding programme is designed for those who have already studied economics and are looking for intensive research-led training in advanced economic theory and econometrics.

Our dynamic teaching blends academic excellence with practical application—through interactive lectures, workshops, group activities, IT lab sessions, and exclusive guest lectures from leading industry and academic experts. From day one, you’ll be set up for success with our intensive pre-sessional training, ensuring you’re confident in core areas like calculus, matrix algebra, and STATA—an essential tool in today’s econometrics landscape. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge online data sources, empowering you to carry out impactful research.

You’ll dive deep into core areas such as microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, as well as advanced econometrics—both theoretical and applied. But this course isn’t one-size-fits-all. You’ll have the freedom to shape your learning around your interests and career goals, selecting from a wide range of interesting optional modules aligned with the research strengths of the School of Economics: Finance, Environmental Economics and Data Science. Your dissertation is the capstone of this MSc—an opportunity to apply your skills to a research topic of your choice, with expert guidance. You may also choose to collaborate with external organisations, gaining valuable work-based experience.

Hi, I'm Alexandra and I'm a 2nd year Drama and Creative Writing undergraduate student at UEA. I'm Spanish/Bolivian but have lived most of my life in Bolivia. As someone with a passion for stage and screen, I chose the Drama and Creative Writing course at UEA to develop and acquire more skills that would allow me to succeed in my career path. I am particularly passionate about scriptwriting, acting and filmmaking, so in the future, I hope I can dedicate myself to all of them. I was previously studying graphic design in Bolivia, but I decided to apply to UEA to pursue my goals; however, I still dedicate some time to it because I love it. I also enjoy photography (especially nature photography), drawing and painting, writing and dancing.

I enjoy developing myself as a student, learning new skills and interacting with people. A favorite pastime of mine is reading, especially thrillers but I'm open to other genres as well. I'm originally from India, specifically from Lucknow, the city of Nawabs (and Tunday kababs), and relish trying new foods and connecting with people from different cultures through their traditions :) Having grown up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, that is the place I call home.
