Do you want to make a difference to human health through innovative research and practice?

Our Biological Sciences (Human Biosciences) degree will help you develop the skills you need by providing you with a solid foundation in key topics such as physiology, anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, neuroscience, nutrition, and genomics.

Through academic and lab training, you’ll sharpen vital skills. Our labs are equipped with industry standard modern technology. And our reputation for outstanding research work stands us in good stead with the local Oxford biosciences industry and hospitals, especially when students come to apply for work placements and graduate jobs.

You can apply directly for the Integrated Masters or transfer onto it from your BSc. The focus of the Masters is a Research Project which will prepare you for a PhD or research career.

A level

At least one science subject is required. Examples of science subjects that will be considered include: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Maths, PE, Physics, Psychology.

T Level

Examples of subjects that will be considered include: Health, Healthcare Science, or Science.

Including one A Level or a comparable Level 3 qualification in a science subject (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Maths, PE, Physics, Psychology).

If you do not have a background in science, we encourage you to consider our Life Sciences Foundation year. Successful completion of the foundation year enables direct entry into Year 1 of many life sciences-related BSc degrees at Oxford Brookes.

12 Level 3 credits in a science subject.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Examples of subjects that will be considered include: Applied Science, Forensic Science, Health and Social Care, and Sport. BTECs in Animal Management and Countryside Management are also accepted for this programme.

If you choose the placement option, you can spend your third year on a work placement. During your placement there is a fee which is paid to the university. It covers the cost of your placement tutor, and the support we provide whilst looking for a placement position and during your placement role.
