Course summary

The MSc in Analytical Sciences is designed to provide graduates in science and related subjects with systematic training in the application of modern analytical methods. It aims to develop the necessary practical, interpretative analytical skills to apply a wide range of analytical techniques to key areas of application.

The course looks to develop a solid set of practical skills leading to specialist applications and employment opportunities as an analytical scientist in pharmaceutical, forensic, archaeological, and environmental analytical sciences. Students can benefit from specialist research laboratories and instrumentation in a research-focused environment. Students are expected to develop an array of interdisciplinary practical skills through specialist lectures, workshops, and hands-on laboratory and analytical experience.

Hi I’m Ellie and I’m a Second Year Pharmacy student. I will be at Lincoln for 3 more years and plan on becoming a pharmacist when I graduate. I did A Level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ and I am very familiar with the clearing process due to my A levels not going as expected so feel free to ask questions around this subject too! Clearing felt very daunting at first when things didn’t go as planned on results day, but the process was actually really easy and ended up finding the university that’s best for me. I have just completed my first year as an Accountancy and Finance student at the University of Lincoln. I took a gap year before starting university in which I worked and travelled, whilst deciding what I wanted my future to look like! After university, I want to either train to be an accountant, or a teacher, possibly in maths, business or my degree area. I joined the University of Lincoln's Athletics society in September 2024, which has allowed me to make new friends, and take part in many social and competitive events. I ran my first 10k race in April 2025 with fellow society members! I live at home and commuted to campus during my first year. I either walked, drove or got the bus to university.

Hi, I'm Chloe a current second year student at the University of Lincoln, studying Technical theatre and stage management. I am also a cheerleader, having competed all across the UK and abroad in Florida and Amsterdam. I am part of the cheerleading society, on Red Arrows, one of the competitive teams.
