Computer Science is a broad area which includes designing and building hardware and software systems for a wide range of purposes and processing, structuring and managing various kinds of information. Covering all aspects of computer science, including the underlying principles and theory, this programme will ensure that when you graduate you will know what is and isn’t possible with computers and be able to find solutions to the problems you will encounter in your professional life.
You can choose to maintain a mixture of modules throughout your degree or follow a specialist’s pathway in Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Optimisation or Data Science.
The following entry points are available for this course:
Must include Mathematics or Computer Science. (Mathematics (Pure), Mathematics (Pure and Applied), and Mathematics (Pure) & Statistics are acceptable.)
CCEA A level Software Systems Development and CCEA A level in Digital Technology (Northern Ireland) are not acceptable subjects.
We also do not accept A level IT.
D*DD in a relevant diploma plus A level Maths or Computer Science grade B (GCSE Maths grade A/7 required if A level Mathematics not taken).

BTEC National Diploma plus one A level
DD in BTEC and A in A Level in Mathematics or Computer Science.
BTEC National Extended Certificate plus two A levels
D in BTEC and AA in A Levels (to include either Mathematics or Computer Science).
Pass Access with 36 Level 3 credits at Distinction (including 15 in Mathematical or Computer Science credits) and 9 Level 3 credits at Merit
Open Awards Access Diploma in Computing and Digital Technology is not acceptable as there isn't enough relevant content
Higher grades AAABB + Advanced Higher grade A in Maths or Computer Science
Including Mathematics or Computer Science.
34 points overall or 6,6,5 in 3 HL subjects including Mathematics/Computer Science.
Acceptable at grade B (with A levels AA including Mathematics or Computer Science)
Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be AAA or AAB plus A in the EPQ.
H1,H1,H2,H2,H2,H3, including H1 in Higher Mathematics or Computer Science. We also require a minimum of H6 in Higher English.
GCSE Mathematics and English at grade 4/C required. Applicants with equivalent qualifications or who do not meet these GCSE requirements will be considered on an individual basis according to their circumstances.
Science or ICT T Level alongside A level Mathematics or Computer Science only.

Some programmes which include compulsory fieldwork or additional elements such as the Pilots Licence in Aerospace Engineering may incur additional costs. Where this is the case, those costs will be outlined at on-campus events such as the University Open Days or Post Application Visit Days
