Our CertHE in Hospitality and Hotel Management is designed to provide you with the essential skills, confidence, and industry knowledge needed to begin a successful career in one of the world’s most exciting and fast-paced sectors. This one-year programme focuses on both personal growth and professional development, helping you think creatively and adapt to the ever-changing hospitality industry.
Throughout the course, you will gain a strong understanding of the core aspects of hospitality management and hotel management, learning how to meet the needs of guests and manage hospitality businesses. The programme also introduces you to the global nature of international hospitality and explores the role of sustainability within the industry.
You will develop key managerial skills, including critical reasoning, analysis, and creativity, which are essential when handling the demands and responsibilities of hospitality management. By the end of the course, you will be ready to provide customer service excellence and stand out in the competitive hospitality job market.
A key feature of the CertHE programme is its focus on practical training. To ensure you are well-prepared for the workforce, you will undertake a compulsory industry experience placement within a UK hotel. This placement provides a unique opportunity to apply your learning in real-life situations and gain valuable insights into the workings of the hospitality industry.
In addition, you will learn about the management and marketing of hospitality organisations, gaining a broad understanding of how local, national, and global factors affect the sector. By the end of your studies, you will have a solid understanding of the hospitality business environment, which will help you make informed career decisions.
With further opportunities for guest lectures and access to potential Institute of Hospitality Accreditation, this CertHE course offers a strong foundation for your career. Upon completion, you’ll be ready to enter the hotel and hospitality industry, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. Our aim is to prepare you not only for a fulfilling career but also to develop into a confident, well-rounded global citizen.

Year 1
You’ll explore the foundations of hospitality and hotel management, covering areas like customer experience, business management, and the structure of the hospitality industry. You’ll gain skills in service encounters and develop an understanding of what makes successful hospitality management.
