Do you want to be part of a stimulating research environment? Join an impactful Modern Languages department and undertake your own research project in Russian studies.

Enjoy a full programme of research training and enhance your research with access to resources held by our Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies.

The Department of Modern Languages is an interdisciplinary hub of research. We welcome research proposals that go beyond subject boundaries.

You can be jointly supervised by an academic specialising in Russian studies and another from a different discipline, depending on your research interests. We have particular strengths in joint supervisions with departments in the College of Social Sciences and School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences.
