Course summary

Fashion expresses our values, culture and society. More importantly, it influences and shapes them.

On the BA Fashion Design degree at Cardiff Met, you will explore your individual talents through the professional design process, which creates freedom with constraints and reflectivity with spontaneity.

Our Fashion Design course embeds originality and risk taking right into the design process, from concept to final product, with consideration for commercial viability and creativity at its core.

It is designed to reflect contemporary practice and to inspire you to succeed in this fast-moving industry.

You will become multi-skilled, flexible, resourceful and creative fashion practitioners with well-developed transferable and interpersonal skills. You will work within a creative environment with well-equipped workshops and studios that support our vibrant student community, where personal talent and individual development are shared, exchanged and nurtured.

You'll also gain an understanding of the ethical issues facing the fashion industry, allowing you to graduate as a responsible designer ready to shape the industry.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
