Research Methods with International Development (Taught)

The MSc in Research Methods in International Development provides rigorous training in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods approaches, accessible to people from a range of backgrounds.

The course benefits from an inter-disciplinary student body, with people specialising in: Education; Human Geography; International Development; and Planning, Property and Environmental Management.

The MSc provides an innovative blend of methodological training and discipline-specific modules.

You will study:

• Four methodological modules, covering qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research.

• Four discipline-specific modules in International Development from a range of optional units.

• A dissertation.

Our core aim is to develop critical, well-rounded social scientists that are equipped with both robust methodological skills and discipline-specific knowledge.

The course is recognised by both the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the North West Doctoral Training Centre, and therefore can be taken as part of a 1+3 PhD scholarship.
