Course summary

The Higher National Certificate in Construction Management for England (Construction Design & Build Technician) is a level 4 qualification that includes enhanced work-related curriculum that is designed to address an increasing need for high quality professional and technically competent staff. Aligned to the occupational standard for Construction design and build technician it has been quality marked as a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ). It aims to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the construction sector and adapt to a constantly changing world.

The course is designed to help students secure a wide range of construction knowledge linked to practical skills gained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. The course will provide you with the critical skills and practical competencies sought by employers and required for progression to further higher education study such as the HND in Construction Management for England.

This programme is an excellent progression option from the successful completion of the Level 3 BTEC National Certificate/Diploma or Extended Diploma in Construction or Civil Engineering. Preference will be given to merit grade students. Students with considerable experience with the industry will also be considered. This course is delivered full-time two days per week over 1 year, or part-time, one day per week over 2 years, making it an excellent option for those employed in the sector who are looking to further develop their skills.

Exeter College does not hold a CAS licence, and therefore is unable to consider applications from prospective learners who require a Student Visa. Non-UK nationals can be considered for courses as long as they already hold the Right to Study in the UK for purposes other than education.
