The Health and Wellbeing workforce is informed by the wider social determinants of health, such as the social, cultural, political, economic, commercial and environmental factors that shape the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. The broad purpose of this occupation is to work in partnership with those individuals and their communities to identify and address health and wellbeing needs to improve overall health.
This exciting programme will ensure you are industry relevant and employable by embracing the priorities of the Leeds City Council ‘Leeds 2030: Shaping our best city ambition’, which is focused towards a community driven, strength based and asset-based approach.
Health services have moved towards delivering intervention and social prescribing based on a knowledgeable and qualified health workforce to support society with the tools to empower them to make positive changes to their health and wellbeing.
This course focuses on the health and wellbeing of individuals and groups, their assets around them and how these can be shaped into a holistic support mechanism, embracing the sustainability agenda, that meets their individual needs.
Combining science and wellbeing, this foundation degree increases your knowledge allowing you to use new therapies and developments to tackle existing healthcare issues. Deepen your understanding of anatomy and
physiology, explore the legal aspects of healthcare and develop your communication and interpersonal skills ready for progression. This course has been designed in consultation with health and wellbeing stakeholders to allow you to develop the relevant skills and knowledge needed to fulfil job roles that support health and wellbeing.
Our selection of modules support your personal and professional development. Alongside exploring concepts of health and wellbeing you will study complementary therapies identifying alternative approaches to conventional medicine. You will also study topics such as anatomy, physiology, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, mental wellbeing and more. With this foundation degree, you will acquire the specialist knowledge which will allow you to pursue a particular health and wellbeing specialism or progress on to a top-up degree or relevant employment.
