Course summary

The BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Philosophy degree provides students with the opportunity to develop a large skill set in pure and applied mathematics while developing a philosophical understanding of the world we live in and the place we occupy within it.

The School of Mathematics and Physics is dedicated to achieving excellence in research and aims to provide a friendly, approachable culture for students to join.

Students have the opportunity to learn from, and work alongside, our team of academics who can support and encourage them to apply imagination, creativity and rigour to the solution of real-world problems. Individual and group projects during the course are designed to develop valuable transferable skills.

    Hi I’m Ellie and I’m a Second Year Pharmacy student. I will be at Lincoln for 3 more years and plan on becoming a pharmacist when I graduate. I did A Level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ and I am very familiar with the clearing process due to my A levels not going as expected so feel free to ask questions around this subject too! Clearing felt very daunting at first when things didn’t go as planned on results day, but the process was actually really easy and ended up finding the university that’s best for me. Everything was so quick and it really helped me to settle into university lifestyle. So yeah, any questions you have about this I’m happy to answer :)

    I have just completed my first year as an Accountancy and Finance student at the University of Lincoln. I took a gap year before starting university in which I worked and travelled, whilst deciding what I wanted my future to look like! After university, I want to either train to be an accountant, or a teacher, possibly in maths, business or my degree area. I joined the University of Lincoln's Athletics society in September 2024, which has allowed me to make new friends, and take part in many social and competitive events. I ran my first 10k race in April 2025 with fellow society members! I live at home and commuted to campus during my first year. I either walked, drove or got the bus to university.
