Take your passion for the outdoors and turn it into a rewarding and fulfilling career with our BA (Hons) Outdoor Education and Leadership. Whether you want to work as an outdoor leader, adventure sport coach or in outdoor education, this course will help you acquire the skills and confidence to guide others in natural environments through active and experiential learning methods.

You will learn from academics with a great passion for the outdoors, who will not only inspire and upskill you but guide you to become the best leader possible. Along the way, you will gain transferable skills including mentorship, critical thinking, resilience, and problem solving, mastering the art of safely experiencing and teaching adventurous activities.

Throughout your studies, you will explore topics such as health and wellbeing, recreation for life, climate change, and our connection with nature. You will also develop a deep understanding of risk management, leadership, and communication, learning how to design, deliver, and evaluate outdoor experiences that inspire growth and learning.

Based in the heart of the Lake District National Park, your studies will be enriched by one of the most inspiring outdoor learning environments in the world. Here, you will develop your technical and leadership skills through fulfilling practical experiences from kayaking to mountaineering, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Lakes. These adventures will not only elevate your theoretical understanding but also help you shape your philosophy as an ethical, inclusive, and adventurous educator.
