A sports coaching degree with West Ham United Foundation and the world-famous West Ham United Academy will push you closer to your desired career in football, sport and coaching. The sports coaching and performance degree combines practical, theoretical and work-based learning and has been uniquely designed to embed industry experts throughout the course.

You will:

Modules
Foundation Year: Mental Wealth and Professional Fitness, Health and Education Study Skills, Health and Education Analytical Skills, Media and Communication Skills, Applied Sports and Exercise Science in Practice.
Year 1: Coaching Principles, Coaching Practice, Essential Skills for Sport (Mental Wealth), Anatomy & Physiology for Sport, Talent and Performance, Psychological Aspects of Sport.
Year 2: Research Methods & Design (Mental Wealth), Applied Sports Coaching, Performance Analysis, Performance Training Programmes, Applying Specialist Performance, Athlete Management.
Year 3: Advanced Performance Analysis, Coaching in Performance Sport, Strength and Conditioning, Professional Development (Sport Specialism Placement), Applied Research Project in Sport (Optional), Entrepreneurship and Enterprise in Sport (Optional), Independent Research Project (Optional).

Assessment method
Year 1 = Practical (20%), Portfolio (10%), Presentation (30%), Written (30%), Online Exam (10%).
Year 2 = Practical (17%), Portfolio (17%), Presentation (33%), Written (33%).
Year 3 = Practical (13%), Portfolio (37%), Presentation (25%), Written (25%)
Each year you will spend around 270 hours of timetabled learning and teaching activities. These may be lectures, workshops, seminars and individual and group tutorials. Contact hours may vary depending on each module.
The approximate amount for this course are:
Year 1: scheduled teaching - 270 hours; guided independent study - 930 hours.
