Course summary

The fundamental understanding of most diseases and developmental/age related disorders is hindered by the lack of relevant model systems. Similarly, the design of therapeutics, including cell-based or biological therapies, benefits from improved close-to-patient models. Our research is focused on this urgent need, whereby, we create mechanistic knowledge and toolsets that underpin multi-modal therapeutics using tissue, cells, genes, proteins, glycans and small molecules designed to slow, reverse and/or cure disease.

Our models span the generation of patient-matched stem cells and their differentiation to specific cell types representative of the heart, liver, lungs, blood, immune cells, gut, eye and brain.
