Imagine yourself working behind the scenes at your favourite football club; developing strategies to win fans, attracting sponsors, managing finances, organising events, engaging with communities, or scouting the next generation of superstars.
This course gives you an introduction to the business side of football, from club management to fan engagement. You'll focus primarily on understanding how a football club operates and how they engage with fans and the wider community. Get ready to dive into real-world scenarios, unpack the secrets of success and prepare to tackle industry challenges head-on.
When you complete the Cert HE, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to start a career in the fast-paced world of football. Or, if you want to continue to learn more, you can choose to continue your studies and go straight into the second year of our Business of Football degree.
LEVEL 4
Module 1 - Sports Organisations and the Digital World
Explore the business environment and the internal and external forces that shape sports organisations. Examine historical and current issues affecting people management, along with the skills and attributes needed to be an effective leader.
Module 2 - Sports Event Management
Gain an in-depth understanding of how to organise, manage and deliver impactful football events. Learn about event design, development, operations, and the fundamentals of health, safety and security for all stakeholders.
Module 3 - Sports Finance and Globalisation
Learn the basics of business finance and the economics of professional football. This module builds your understanding of financial statements, budgeting and the economic factors influencing financial management within the sport.
Module 4 - Fan Engagement, Marketing and Commercialisation of Football
Explore football marketing and commercialisation. Study how clubs grow fanbases, manage customer and stakeholder relationships, secure sponsorships and develop strong, socially responsible brands.
• Across this scheme of study, candidates will be exposed to a range of assessment instruments, such that they will have as wide a range of opportunities as possible to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies, along with the security of their attainment of the module and programme intended learning outcomes.
• Assessments will include individual and group work, which is undertaken and submitted in a range of relevant formats.
• In addition to formative in-module assessment there will be assessments undertaken at the conclusion of individual modules. These will draw upon a range of instruments of assessment which are appropriate to the module and programme learning outcomes being assessed.
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
