Psychology with Neuroscience

Psychology and neuroscience is a rapidly developing field due to the development of sophisticated neuroimaging techniques which allow researchers to observe the neural correlates of cognitive processes and behaviours in real-time, providing insights into how the brain functions. Combining this with psychology offers a more comprehensive understanding of human behaviour. Neuroscience has significantly advanced our understanding of psychiatric disorders by identifying the neural underpinnings of conditions like depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. This knowledge is crucial for developing more effective treatments and interventions, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Our course covers all core elements of psychological study as required by the British Psychological Society (BPS), from lifespan development, biopsychology, and research methods, to social, critical and individual differences. Alongside this, you will study specialist modules that combine core psychological theory with the study of neuroscience, giving you a unique insight into the biological foundations of behaviour, cognition, and mental health.

You'll explore how psychological theory and neuroscience research can be applied to improve lives – from exploring various psychiatric disorders and their treatments to supporting wellbeing and performance. You’ll engage in interactive learning that brings psychological scenarios to life and helps you develop essential skills in digital literacy, data science, and critical thinking.
