The Master of Chiropractic (MChiro) at McTimoney College of Chiropractic, awarded by Ulster University, prepares you for a hands-on healthcare career helping people improve movement, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life.

The course is recognised by the General Chiropractic Council as a route onto the UK Register of Chiropractors, and accredited by the European Council on Chiropractic Education.

Course Structure

The MChiro is a four-year full-time integrated Master’s degree.

  • Years 1 to 3: You will study anatomy, physiology, and chiropractic techniques, alongside developing practical skills through regular, supervised training. Teaching takes place during the week with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning.

  • Year 4: You will complete a clinical internship in our Community Chiropractic Clinic, treating real patients under supervision, alongside a research project.

This course blends science with practical healthcare skills. You will:

  • Learn how the human body moves and functions through anatomy and physiology

  • Develop hands-on chiropractic techniques to assess and treat patients

  • Build confidence in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and patient care

Your future career

Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the General Chiropractic Council, allowing you to practise as a chiropractor in the UK.

You will be assessed in a variety of ways depending on the module and stage development. You will also be encouraged to reflect and feedback on your own experiences, learning and development.

Additional information

Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the start of the programme.
UCAS Points: A minimum of 96 UCAS tariff points is standard.
GCSEs: Five subjects at Grade 4/C or above, which must include English Language and Mathematics.
A-Levels: Three passes at Grade C or above, including at least two science subjects (Biology is strongly preferred).
Alternative Qualifications: BTEC Extended Diplomas (Science/Animal pathway), Access to HE Diplomas, or relevant higher qualifications in biological sciences are accepted.
Interview: No offers are made without a successful interview to assess motivation and clinical aptitude.
Professional Safeguarding: A satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory.
Health: Applicants must be able to meet "Fitness to Practise" standards set by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC).
