Course summary

This is for you if... you want a professionally-orientated degree taught by researchers and academics with professional and industry experience and designed to equip you with the confidence you need to succeed in a variety of roles in the finance sector.

On our BSc Finance degree you will learn the main theories, concepts, and practices related to finance, as well as appreciate fundamental concepts in related disciplines. The course provides hands-on coverage of practical finance with a focus on investments, data analytics and trading. In addition you will have the opportunity to improve your professional skills. You will gain knowledge and skills to appreciate and critique finance techniques and practices.

Your first year is designed to equip you with the fundamental knowledge and study skills to succeed in your academic career. The first year is shared with the following programmes:

BSc Accounting
BSc Accounting and Finance

This means that after a firm foundation in many disciplines, you will have the opportunity to make an informed choice and switch from BSc Finance to either of the other programmes at the end of your first year.

The close relationship between research and teaching, as well as the practical focus of delivery are great advantages of studying with us. You will be taught by active and renowned researchers and academics who have professional practical experience in the accounting and finance sector.

A level - ABB

Two AS-levels considered in place of one A-level. Own language may be considered if taken at same sitting as other A-levels.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDD

Business Extended diploma with a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5/B including Maths and English Language. Science or Engineering Extended Diplomas may also be considered please contact the admissions team for further advice: study@le.ac.uk

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits

Business or social science course preferred but other subjects considered.

Scottish Higher

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Business or Science National Diploma considered with 1 A-level. For other combinations please contact the admissions team for further advice: study@le.ac.uk

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Business or Science Foundation Diploma considered with 1 A-level and 1 AS-level. For other combinations please contact the admissions team for further advice: study@le.ac.uk

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate (first teaching from September 2016)

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 30 points

Minimum of grade 4 in SL Maths Analysis and Approach or 6 in SL Maths Application and Interpretation or 4 in HL Maths if not held at GCSE. Must include a minimum of grade 4 in English A or 5 in English B if minimum of grade 4/C not held in English Language at GCSE.

WJEC Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales

Extended Project

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics grade 5 (B) and GCSE English Language grade 4 (C) is also required for all qualifications where no other specific GCSE requirement is given.

T Level - D

Must be in Finance. Must also hold 5 GCSE's with grade 5 in each to include Maths and English
