Course summary

This wide-ranging, four-year MEng degree integrates a year of Master’s-level study and an industrial placement. You will develop core electronic engineering skills and study specialist topics exploring areas such as the design of machines and drives, industrial automation and robotics, semiconductor device fabrication. You will also complete several design projects to showcase your skills to future employers.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - Not accepted

A level - AAB

AAB including Mathematics or Further Mathematics.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Candidates will be considered for Foundation Year entry only. Please see Engineering with Foundation Year for specific entrance requirements. Candidates who also have A Level Mathematics will be considered on an individual basis.

Access to HE Diploma

Access qualifications will only be considered for BEng registration in the first instance. Please see entry requirements for H607 for more information about entry requirements. Students demonstrating sufficient levels of achievement on the programme may be permitted to transfer registration to the MEng in Stage 2.

Scottish Higher - Not accepted

Scottish Advanced Higher - AAB

AAB at Advanced Higher including Mathematics. Two Highers at the required grade (in different subjects to those offered at Advanced Higher) may replace a third Advanced Higher. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 34 points

34 points with Mathematics at Higher Level grade 6.

Extended Project

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that it is designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)

Candidates will normally only be considered for foundation year entry. All applications will be considered on an individual basis.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, D3, M2

D3, D3, M2 in Principal Subjects including Mathematics.

T Level

Candidates will be considered for Foundation Year entry on a case-by-case basis. Please see Engineering with Foundation Year for specific entrance requirements.
