Course summary
This BA (Hons) degree in Media, Film and Journalism is aimed at students who want to study and pursue careers in the fields of film, television, radio, digital media, advertising, journalism and public relations. In an age where there is vital need for informed debate on the political, environmental, social, and cultural forces that shape our world, this degree will prepare you to engage with the conversation.
Taught by leading analysts and practitioners, staff within the School regularly engage with research in advertising, media regulation, privacy, digital journalism, political communication, gender, visual culture, gaming, global media, social networks, publishing and documentaries. Choosing this degree in Media, Film and Journalism will allow you to develop your creative voice whilst giving you skills, knowledge and experience in a range of creative and communications media.
‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. A level
General Studies and Key Skills not accepted.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMM - DDM
We will also consider other BTEC qualifications in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications.
Access to HE Diploma
Accepted.
Scottish Higher
Minimum of 5 Scottish Highers - some subject specific grades/Advanced Highers may be required.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
Accepted.
Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)
We will accept this qualification in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications.
Extended Project

T Level qualifications are accepted on a case by case basis.
We allow you flexibility in meeting our entry requirements and accept a broad range of qualifications. We are happy to accept combinations of the qualifications listed above, as well as alternative Level 3 qualifications such as City & Guilds, Access and Cambridge Technical Diplomas. We also welcome applications from mature learners and/or those with other qualifications are considered on individual merit. Additional fee information
On 4 December 2024 the Welsh Government confirmed that the tuition fee cap (the maximum tuition fee that regulated providers can charge to certain students on full-time undergraduate courses) will increase to £9,535 per year, subject to changes in the regulations by the Welsh Government.
