Course summary

This course will be based at Herefordshire College, Folly Lane Campus.

The units within the HNC /HND Leadership and Management give students the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and behaviours aligned to the Occupational Standard (OS) for Operations or Departmental Manager.

The awarding body has worked closely with The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM); and The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in developing this programme.

Students will be able to develop and apply their own ideas to their studies, to deal with uncertainty and complexity, to explore solutions, demonstrate critical evaluation and use both theory and practice in a wide range of business situations.

By the end of Level 5, students will have a sound understanding of the principles of leadership and management and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the business world.

Designed to develop your knowledge of team leadership and management from a management perspective, this HTQ course aims to enhance your skills to progress into employment across a wide range of industries. The purpose of the qualification is to develop students as independent-thinking professionals who can meet the demands of employers and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualification is suitable for all types of industries and we have experienced delivery staff, providing a blended learning approach to accommodate flexible teaching and learning. Support is also in place with mentoring services, workshops, and tutorials to help support you along your journey.

Assessment method

Assessment takes place using a variety of methods including; assignments, presentations, projects, and case studies. All students will receive regular feedback on their work and progress from their tutors. The qualification will be graded at pass, merit and distinction.

Qualification requirements

We expect those studying this HTQ to ensure they have a Level 3 if studying Level 4, and Level 4 if studying a Level 5, in a related subject, as well as GCSE maths and English at a Grade C/4 or above. We welcome interest from mature students who may not have the formal qualifications expected, but a wealth of experience in a related subject.
