This masters in civil engineering is fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and it puts emphasis on sustainability and resilience in civil engineering infrastructure design and assessment.

You'll also have the opportunity to undertake a postgraduate placement year if you choose our placement pathway, allowing you to gain crucial workplace experience. We’ll support you in finding a placement with a company most suited to your career goals.

What you will study
Our fully accredited Civil Engineering MSc will help you acquire advanced capabilities and in-depth knowledge across a range of civil engineering disciplines, including structural engineering, infrastructure management, geotechnical engineering and water/environmental engineering. This allows you to tailor your masters according to your aspirations.

There are six study streams within our civil engineering courses:

  • Bridge engineering

  • Infrastructure engineering and management

  • Geotechnical engineering

  • Structural engineering

  • Water/environmental engineering.

If you are an engineer working in the construction industry and you hold a related degree, such as engineering geology or construction management, this course will provide you with the opportunity to expand on your existing knowledge and skills.

It is also designed to update the technical skills of practising engineers engaged in the planning, design, construction and operation of civil engineering works.
