Launch your career in the dynamic aerospace industry with our BEng Aerospace Engineering at Swansea University.
Aerospace Engineering at Swansea provides you with expert training in the theory and operation of aeronautical and astronautical vehicles, from jet-powered and propeller-driven aircrafts to gliders and helicopters.
Our programme will provide you with a solid foundation in mathematics, mechanics, materials, Thermofluids, digital engineering and professional practice, that is further supported through theoretical and laboratory-based learning.
Whether your interests lie in design, analysis, testing or flight, our programme will equip you with the technical competence, critical awareness and insight needed to succeed within and contribute to the future of the aerospace sector.
The optional Foundation Year for this programme can give you an exciting introduction to higher education, setting you up with the skills, confidence, and knowledge that you’ll need to be successful in your undergraduate degree. It’s ideal if you need a little more support after further education, or are returning to education after a gap. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress onto Year 1 of your BEng.
This programme is also available as a 4-year MEng, which is an advanced undergraduate degree, adding a further research-focused year to your degree. Our MEng leads to a master’s level qualification, in addition to your undergraduate degree, giving you expert training and a springboard towards a range of specialist careers.
Below is a sample of some of the modules that you might expect to study at each level of the BEng Aerospace Engineering with a Foundation Year degree (it should be noted that these do vary from year to year):
Year 0 (Foundation): Fundamentals of Engineering Design, Chemistry of Materials, Applied Engineering, Fundamentals of Engineering Science.
Year 1: Design and Laboratory Classes, Introduction to Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics (Aero) & Thermofluids (Mechanical & General).
Year 2: Aerospace Structures, AI and Aerospace Systems, Flight Mechanics, Experimental Studies - Aerospace & Computer Aided Engineering (Aerospace).
Year 3: Engineering Management (Aero, EEE, Mech), Rotorcraft Theory, Gas Dynamics, Propulsion & Individual Engineering Project.
