Summary
Finance is evolving rapidly, shaped by data, technology and innovation. At Southampton, you will explore how financial theory and Financial Technology come together, and how they are transforming the way organisations operate.

This degree places you at the intersection of finance and technology. You will build a strong understanding of financial principles while developing the technical skills needed to work in a fast-moving, digital environment. From markets and investment to emerging FinTech innovations, you will learn how to apply your knowledge to real-world challenges.

You will study at a top 20 UK university and in a department ranked in the top 100 globally for Accounting and Finance (Guardian University Guide 2026 and QS World Rankings 2025), giving you access to research-led teaching and industry-relevant insight.

This three-year programme also offers the flexibility to extend your studies. You can choose a four-year variant with a paid industrial placement or a year studying abroad at one of our partner institutions in Europe, North America, Australia or Asia.

We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).

Unless a more advanced level (Higher or Advanced Higher) is specified in the stated entry requirements, all applicants will be required to have achieved a pass in Mathematics and English at Standard Grade, Grade 3 or National 5, Grade C, the equivalent of GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4"

*We can accept a grade 5 in GCSE mathematics if you achieve grade B in A level Maths, Physics, Economics, Geography, Psychology or Business.

We welcome applicants with other qualifications eg. European Baccalaureate. You will be expected to attain an equivalent standard to the A level applicant.
