Course summary

In the 21st century, our environment and society are under significant and growing pressure from complex global challenges, making geography more vital than ever in shaping sustainable futures. By combining your curiosity about the world with practical skills and digital tools, you will be well-equipped to explore these challenges and make a meaningful difference.
Learning goes beyond the classroom. You will gain hands-on experience while exploring the diverse natural and cultural landscapes surrounding our Ambleside campus, located in the heart of the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Rolling hills, vast lakes, and a rich variety of terrains provide the perfect environment to study geography in the field.
Our academics bring a wealth of experience as lecturers, researchers, and consultants, and are dedicated to sharing their passion for the environment and society. With personalised guidance, they will help you reach your full academic potential.
You will also benefit from our strong industry connections, opening doors to research projects, work placements, volunteering opportunities, and promising careers across a wide range of geography-related fields.

Contextual admissions

Universities and colleges consider more than grades when assessing applications and may make offers based on a range of criteria. Learn more about contextual offers.

Contextual information is used to support accessibility to all who have the potential to succeed. Qualifications and grades are important but are considered alongside other information that helps us identify potential and widen access to study. We consider an individual’s circumstances alongside their grades & may accept someone with a lower grade profile based on personal circumstances, particularly those impacted during the pandemic. Our entry requirements are now higher than previous cycles.
