Course summary

This degree will give you an in-depth knowledge of both economics and accounting. You'll how to use Bloomberg terminals in our Financial Laboratory (FinLab) and may decide to study abroad or take a year in employment. It is ideal for those looking for a career in economic or accounting consultancy.

This Economics and Accounting course will give you specialist knowledge of microeconomics and macroeconomics and the main concepts of accountancy. These will help you better understand the behaviour of individuals and businesses, and the economy as a whole.

Optional modules will let you shape your studies around your interests or career plans. These include international banking, risk management or public economics.

BSc Economics and Accounting is taught in conjunction with the University of Southampton Business School. You'll build specialist knowledge of microeconomics (the behaviour of individuals and businesses), macroeconomics (the behaviour of the economy as a whole) and the main concepts of accountancy.

You could also:

  • Spend a semester abroad

  • Spend a year in employment

  • Gain vital work experience on a Student Innovation Project

  • Gain exemptions from professional accounting bodies and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries
