The global sports industry is growing fast, and this exciting degree puts you right at the heart of it. Delivered by experts from both the Public Health and Sport Sciences (PHSS) and the University of Exeter Business School (UEBS), the programme is designed to keep pace with industry trends and prepare you for a wide range of careers. Behind the scenes of sport, from stadiums and sponsorships to fitness tech and fan engagement, employers are looking for graduates who are adaptable, creative, and ready to lead. This programme gives you the skills and knowledge to thrive in a fast-changing industry. You will explore how sport operates at every level from facilities, equipment, and apparel to sponsorship, merchandising, and digital innovation, and the people, organisations, and policies that shape it all. Core modules cover key areas of sports business, enterprise and innovation, event operations, and global issues. You will also choose from a wide range of optional modules across sport science and business, so you can tailor your degree to your interests and career goals. Whether you are passionate about improving health through physical activity, launching your own fitness brand, or working with elite athletes, this course gives you the tools to make a real impact. You will learn from leading researchers and industry professionals, gaining insights into leadership, strategy, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business. By the time you graduate, you will be equipped with versatile management and leadership skills that open doors across the sports industry—from community sport and health promotion to global brands and elite performance.
BSc Sport Business Management has been designed to complement the MSc Sports Management programme, and the curriculum is clearly differentiated providing the foundations to this discipline area at UG level allowing for progression of advanced study at PGT level. The UG programme introduces you to the behind the scenes of sports business and related public and third sectors in the provision of sport and wider leisure products and services. The UG curriculum has been created to ignite student interest to alternative career paths alongside our established BSc sport and exercise sciences programme. All modules on this proposed programme at UG level introduce the principles of sport and business, focusing at frontline and operational level, whilst the MSc Sports Management curriculum develops these concepts strategically and progressing advanced skills and knowledge in leadership and management.
The following entry points are available for this course:
Pass the Access to HE Diploma with 24 L3 credits at Distinction Grade and 21 L3 credits at Merit Grade. Please also see our GCSE requirements.
Applicants will be considered with IB 32 OR 655 in three Higher Level subjects.
