About the course

The Education International Foundation Pathway: Certificate of Higher Education is designed to prepare international students for undergraduate study in education and related fields. It combines academic study, subject knowledge and English language development to help you progress with confidence.

This course is ideal if you do not yet meet the direct entry requirements for an education degree. You will build core academic and professional skills while developing your English language ability, preparing you for further study at undergraduate level.

What you’ll study

You’ll build a solid foundation in education studies, while gaining professional skills valued across schools, early years settings and wider education sectors, including academic writing, critical thinking, research skills, data analysis and subject specific terminology.

Modules offered can vary each year but may include:

• English: London as Global City

• Data Analysis and Research Skills

• Learning and Child Development

• Education Policy and Professional Ethics

How you’ll learn

You will learn through:

• Lectures, seminars and interactive workshops led by experienced academic staff

• Practical activities and group discussions to develop confidence in spoken and written English

• Individual and group assessments including essays, presentations and online tests

• Regular meetings with your academic guidance tutor for personalised feedback and support

• Access to careers and study support, both face to face and online

You will also have access to digital learning resources, including virtual learning platforms, online library materials and academic skills support tools.

Future opportunities

After successfully completing the pathway, you can apply to a range of undergraduate degrees in education and related subjects at Roehampton, progressing towards careers in teaching, early years, youth work and wider education services.
