Course outline

Studying BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering at Aston University will prepare you to tackle some of the most complex, high-stakes engineering challenges of our time, from net-zero aviation and electric propulsion to drone technologies and spacecraft design.

You’ll build a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics and structures, before specialising in advanced aerospace systems. Our hands-on, project-based approach means you won’t just learn about engineering, you’ll actively practise it.

You’ll be taught by active researchers and industry-experienced academics, and benefit from cutting-edge facilities and Aston’s strong connections with aerospace employers.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 15 credits M: 30 credits P: 0 credits

We accept the QAA-recognised Access Diploma which must consist of at least 15 Distinctions and 30 Merits at level 3; including at least 15 credits at Level 3 in Mathematics units and at least 15 credits at Level 3 in STEM (a) subject units. Please note that we do not accept the English and Maths components within the Access qualification and you must meet the GCSE entry requirement.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 29 points

29 points overall with 5, 5, 4 in Higher Level, including Mathematics and another STEM (a) listed subject List of STEM (a) subjects: Further Maths, Statistics, Physics, Design Technology, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Computer Science, Biology and Electronics.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

In addition to our Level 3 requirement, each applicant must meet a GCSE (level 2) requirement or equivalent: GCSE English Language or Literature minimum grade C/4 GCSE Mathematics minimum grade C/4

T Level - D

The following T levels are accepted qualifications for this course: Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction Building Services Engineering for Construction Onsite Construction Design and Development for Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Manufacturing Processing and Control Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering Manufacturing

*On 20 October 2025, the Government announced that tuition fees in England for Home students will be increased annually in line with inflation, starting in 2026. The Government have since confirmed that it intends to determine the inflation-linked increase using the Retail Price Index, although this is subject to parliamentary approval.
