Not everyone takes the same route into university, and that’s ok. Whether you’ve completed a HND and want to top-up to a full degree, or you’ve completed two years of Civil Engineering elsewhere and are ready to finish your degree with us, then look no further. This course gives you the opportunity to complete your journey and achieve your goals.

In your top-up year, you’ll study third year modules from our Civil Engineering (BEng hons) degree, equipping you with the specialist knowledge and practical skills demanded in civil engineering.

Civil Engineering plays a vital role in our society, we design, build and maintain infrastructure that improves lives. Roads, bridges, canals, dams and buildings have all have an integral part in our built environment. Civil Engineering is a broad area with a number of specialisms and you will be able to develop the knowledge and skills in our programme. Our course is very practical and hands-on, our teaching is strongly driven by what we need in the industry, we embed sustainability, technology and software throughout our curriculum.

Hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant subject with at least 60 credits at merit level in level 5 modules, or
Possess an equivalent Higher Education qualification in a related discipline.
Additionally, applicants must demonstrate subject knowledge and academic ability equivalent to successful completion of Levels 4 and 5 of the full-time BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering programme, including foundational knowledge in key civil engineering topics.

International students must meet the following criteria for entry into the Level 6 Top-Up programme:

Level 5 qualification like a Higher National Diploma (HND) or the equivalent of the first two years of a bachelor's degree in a related field.
