Course summary

Why an Integrated Foundation Stage?
An Integrated Foundation Stage starts your degree studies with a year spent learning the skills required to progress onto a full honours degree. Alongside an introduction to Graphic Design, you will develop valuable study skills, communication, team work and problem-solving techniques which help to build your confidence and prepare you for the rest of your course.

Why Graphic Design?
Our Graphic Design degree builds your understanding of creative entrepreneurship, as you prepare for a successful career. Equipping you with both traditional and contemporary skills, you’ll cover design areas such as branding, print, packaging, moving image, photography and typography. With opportunities to gain experience through placements and live briefs with organisations such as ASOS, Channel 5, Bulletproof and Taxi Design, our graduates stand out from the competition. There’s also the chance to showcase work and make key contacts with agencies at our ‘speed meets’.

You’ll draw on the expertise of accomplished lecturers who have worked for 20th Century Fox, Cartoon Network and Universal Pictures. You can also learn from high-profile guest speakers, with past visitors including designers Ken Garland and Mary Lewis, as well as comedian and cartoonist Phill Jupitus. You’ll even have the chance to gain recognition for your work, with previous students winning international awards such as YCN Professional Awards, D&AD New Blood Student Awards, the Starpack Student Packaging Awards and a Penguin Design Award. Our new Design Centre, complete with dedicated graphic design studios, offers a special collaborative, creative environment where talent can develop and thrive. You’ll also benefit from use of state-of-the-art technology such as Apple Mac systems, Adobe CC software and more traditional equipment such as silkscreen printers.
