The course has been developed to meet the growing demand of Design Engineers who can think creatively about challenges faced by industry, and develop innovative solutions to solve these challenges.
The course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to transform ideas into real, fully-functioning products. You will learn how to think creatively, while combining your technical engineering expertise, to enhance and improve how a business performs and operates.
You will solve real-world problems, analysing and evaluating the design, specification, manufacturing technologies, maintenance and commissioning of mechanical equipment and associated systems
A mixture of teaching and learning activities will be used to deliver this course. During the early years, more focus will be placed on lectures, tutorials and workshop activities to allow you to build the underpinning knowledge and principles of engineering design and manufacturing. For the last two years, teaching will be focused on developing your self-confidence through independent study and project supervision (e.g. a group project and individual project).
Your course resources will be available on CampusMoodle, our virtual learning environment, where you will find course notes, tutorials, coursework assignments and much more.
