The BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering prepares you for a dynamic global industry with a balance of theory, hands-on labs, and industry-informed projects. With no traditional exams, you’ll be assessed through real-world tasks, gaining the skills and confidence to excel in aerospace, defence, or advanced engineering careers.
You will:
-Benefit from access to state-of-the-art laboratories, CAD/CAM suites, composites workshops, and advanced simulation tools
-Experience innovative assessment with no formal exams, focusing on coursework, practical work, and projects that mirror industry practice
-Develop practical skills with extensive hands-on learning in design, digital manufacturing, and aerospace testing facilities

-Work on real-world, team-based projects that develop problem-solving, design, and professional engineering skills
-Have the opportunity to complete a work placement in your final year
-Graduate prepared for careers in aerospace, defence, and advanced engineering, or for further study and research pathways

This course is designed in line with the AHEP-4 framework, ensuring academic rigour and industry relevance
Gain professional awareness through modules in Engineering Practice and Professional Development, aligning you with employer expectations
The course will allow you to build skills in specialist modules such as Advanced Aerodynamics & CFD, Lightweight Structures, and Applied Thermofluids & Propulsion
You will begin the course with a STEM Foundation Year. This pathway provides essential grounding in mathematics, science, and core engineering skills, ensuring you are fully prepared to progress with confidence into the degree
In your final year, you will complete an individual project that showcases technical expertise and prepares you for employment or postgraduate study
Enhance your final year with a professional placement, embedded within the Professional Practice module. Lasting up to 12 weeks in Semester two, this valuable opportunity allows you to gain real-world industry experience, strengthen your CV, and build professional networks before graduation

Our general entry requirement for the foundation year is 48-72 UCAS tariff points but all applications are considered individually and we consider work experience, vocational training/qualifications as well as motivation and potential to succeed.
